A customer’s Audi S3. Engine and gearbox, calibrated together.

One visit: engine remapped to Stage 1+, S‑tronic (DSG) gearbox tuned to match it.Stage 1+ engine remap and S-tronic (DSG) gearbox tune, done together in one visit. The engine file raises what the car can do; the gearbox file is written to match it, so the shifts and the power agree. Every dual-clutch car we tune leaves this way.

We quoted the owner 360 bhp and 480 Nm before a single byte was written — the target is on the sheet below. The number for your car comes from your reg, not from this one.

What could your car gain?

Your reg identifies the vehicle, engine control unit and gearbox. You’ll see the options for your car before anyone asks for your details.

Why tune the gearbox as well? Why tune the gearbox as well?

A Stage 1+ engine file changes how much torque the engine produces and when. On a dual-clutch car (DSG, S-tronic), the gearbox has its own control unit with its own idea of how much torque to accept and when to shift — and that idea was set at the factory, for the factory engine file.

Leave it alone and the two units disagree. The gearbox can hold back torque the engine is now making, shift at points that no longer suit the power, or protect itself in ways the driver feels as hesitation. Calibrate it alongside the engine and the car behaves as one system again — the shifts, the torque acceptance and the power all referring to the same numbers.

That is the reason this S3 had both files written in one session, and the reason we quote the pair together.

What the S3 was written to deliver.

The figures agreed with the owner before anything was written — factory output against the Stage 1+ target, and what the gearbox was told about it.
